"What you were will not happen again. The tigers have found me and I do not care."

Born in a canyony scape, in the far reaches of Thanalan's deserts as S'iha Nerra, among a rabble of sisters and brothers. This offshoot of the Zu tribe made their home upon rocky cliffsides, with villages spun from twig and twine that resembled the nests of the people's namesake.
Their elaborate means of travel included ziplines, ropeswings and carefully crafted wooden bridges. And though rare, tamed Zu found themselves among the counted defenses of the skyward Miqo'te clan.
Deep below their canyon abodes, in the very basins - was where S'iha and her people found their sustenance. Amidst vibrant, lush oasis - spawned from lifetimes of natural cultivation, care and protection afforded by the Zu tribe. The watering grounds of the very creature that defined their identity; a place of reverence and integral to their way of life. So it was that the Zu learned to climb, swing, hunt and thrive.WORK IN PROGRESS AS HECK

As a general rule, I am looking for long term roleplay scenarios with players who are capable of producing interesting scenes and ongoing stories. I enjoy motivated writers who engage me in machinations of their own design, and returning the favor summarily. Slice of life has its place, as not everything needs to be chaos and progression, but I can't roleplay drinks in the Quicksand every day, it gets boring.

connections

"The love and sadness on the corners of your smile. There's nothing like the way you loiter in my heart."

THE MOON – Sun and Moon, as sure as Day chases Night – this duo is insperable. Their relationship has blossomed since the day of their meeting, spurred by dichotomous attraction, a yearning for arcane mysteries and an intense sisterly bond. The waifish lunar witch has captured S’iha’s adoration and loyalty. With so much shared, and so much more to discover – there is no end in sight to their reign.

THE GOON – S'iha first met Rhin'a in La Noscea, where they traveled together to Old Sharlayan in her late teens. Later in life, the rogue signed her to occupation in Yielding Veil Holdings. Since then, they have become close companions and S'iha fills the role of secretary to the otherwise occupied head of company. They have had their share of troubles and tension, but it keeps life interesting.

THE HERO – A loyal friend and workmate. S'iha appreciates his validation and interest in her profession, and in return has come to support the would-be Red Mage in his journey. S'iha finds a great deal of pleasure in tormenting the sheltered Esmond with thinly veiled flirtation, and their relationship has become one of mutual growth and genuine admiration. "You kept it? Keep it."

THE GLEANER – A traveling companion from her earliest days in Sharlayan. The unusual duo have a habit of snooping out the oddest mysteries and requests. The well-traveled Xaela has aided S'iha in many hazardous requisitions, and times of late find them investigating dangerous misconduct at the heart of Sharlayan. S'iha is most fascinated with his tales of travel and adventure.

THE STRAY – Oh poor hopeless Fiar. S'iha met this wandering Veena freezing and alone traveling Coerthas. She has taken him under her wing, teaching him in concepts of magic, art and civilization. Fiar is one of the rare few to have seen S'iha's illness at its worst, and has since become a soothing caretaker for the woman. She's often rousing the sleepy vagabond from his naps, though he hasn't complained yet.

THE SHADOW – Called by blood and fueled by jealousy. Heart of blackest ichor, eyes of coldest moonlight. He lives in my nightmares, and follows still in the waking hours. A dull chill down my spine, a watcher from beyond every corner. He seeks to destroy all that I have come to love, and yet, I pity him. A cursed thing, scorned by fate and family. I only hope that his obsession can quelled, for both our sakes.

hooks

AETHERSICKNESS –» Be it from rumor or observation, it is clear that S'iha is ailed by tainted aether. Even the smallest amount of spellcasting or even aetheryte travel results in erratic symptoms. From varying levels of fatigue to coughing episodes and even bleeding from the mouth, nose and eyes. In extreme cases of overexertion, the illness would be fatal. Bloodstained philtrum, complexion devoid of warmth and black pillows below her eyes. Mages and Medics are likely to cotton onto this debilitating curse, but would find curing her impossible.

PAINTING GIRL –» S'iha is a painter of some vague popularity. While she mostly works for her own pleasure, she has sold some of her works to a broader market. Portraits, landscapes and comissions of a different sort. She derives a great deal of pleasure from painting new muses, and sharing her work with others. Provide her with a an idea, a sack of gil, and Anyone can have their likeness or home made reality upon a canvas. Perhaps you recognize her name, and works? Or maybe you stumble upon an otherwise uninspired artist in the field.

MAGICAL SCRIBE –» The only safe way for S'iha to practice her magic, and a profession born of her own mind and ingenuity. Spellcraft bound to written and painted form, sealed and ready for use at a moments notice. Travelers or Combatants would find her scrolls particularly useful. Spellwarding, barriers, spectral companions, guiding and blinding lights, immobilizing sigils, muffling and brief invisibility. S'iha specializes in Illusion and Alteration based magics, and summarily her aetherscribed scrolls reflect this mastery. Sorcerous arts, at your disposal.

SHARLAYAN STUDENT –» Having spent the last five years of her life attending study in Old Sharlayan, S'iha is well accustomed to the bureaucracy and social motions of the citystate. She was persecuted by many of her peers as a black sheep due to her illness and struggled to overcome this alienation in earnest. Gleaners, Professors and Students may know of S'iha's reputation, or encounter her studying in the Noumenom. Malicious rumor suggests the Seeker as a fraud and homewrecker among spiteful peers, and yet she returns, always.

ADVENTURE & TRAVEL –» On the road, aboard a ship, out in the wild. For whatever reason, S'iha is wandering out beyond her depth. The artist is mostly incapable of defending herself and requires protection on her journey. Capable Fighters and Worksmen are not only needed, but required. It could also be that S'iha is assisting another on their journey, as well. Levequests, reagent gathering, archaeological expeditions, sightseeing, arcane and occult mysteries, business exchanges. Abandoned villages, crumbled ruins, haunted swamps! Gods, she needs help.

EXPENSIVE TASTES –» Gil. Markets. Shopping. Fashion. Vanity. S'iha enjoys fine clothes, fine food and finer company. Does she have the funds for any of it? Absolutely not. Craftsmen and Merchants will adore her belligerent spending habits. Tailors, Goldsmiths and Alchemists are subject to her meticulous tastes and demands. S'iha is shamelessly willing to accept benefactors and allowances in order to fund her superficial desire for new things and quick thrills. After all, time is short; live now and worry later. "Take me to the Bismarck! Or the Crozier!"

THE ODD & BROKEN –» For better or worse, S'iha feels a natural draw towards the alienated, reviled, downtrodden and unwanted. Runts, strays, street urchins, cursed beings, criminals and those otherwise Tarnished and Dejected. A dichotomous warmth cast against macabre reality. Unfortunately, such empathy, neglected of better judgement; often results in S'iha being subject to danger or manipulation. A stockholme cage for her heart, the artist finds inspiration and beauty in the darker sides of life, even if it costs her fragile pieces of herself.

YOUR HOOKS –» I'm a open book. Please, if you have an idea, tell me. S'iha is a character I leave very open to interactions with many different types of characters and scenarios. Just because she's mostly useless doesn't mean I'm not open to having her in precarious or dangerous scenarios, for example. I adore confidence and initiative in roleplay partners, let's talk about your ideas and brainworms. Don't be shy. I'm non-judgemental and very open-minded. S'iha can have a smaller part to play in your character's story. My hooks are not be all and end all.

aetherscribe

S'iha's self-made profession is by all accounts built upon the foundation of the traditional Arcanist practice. The process of Aetherscribing is in short, the act of imbuing a scroll or painting with a dormant incantation. First off is preparations, where specialized ink or paint must be prepared with a variety of herbs, flowers, seeds, stones, gemstones and alchemical compounds. The ink/paint is then combined with elemental-aspected crystals reduced to a powder. The end result is the aetherically-influenced pigments used in her work.Secondly, the incantation. The scribe creating the piece must have an innate knowledge of the spell to begin with. One could not, for example-- bind the scroll with a draconic summoning spell, without first knowing how to do so themselves. A spell is written into parchment by identifying words, runes and glyphs that represent the spell and it's desired effect. An elaborate and precise display of calligraphy. For paintings, the image must simply represent the desired effect. Inaccurate detailing can often lead to unforeseen results. Regardless of the format in which the spell is being bound, the Aetherscribe must channel a latent, steady flow of Aether during their work, along with the specialized pigments prepared earlier. Essentially the Scribe is preparing the spell ahead of time, and giving it a dormant physical form. The Aether required to generate the spell is put forth in the process of creation, and summarily - the act of using the scroll or painting requires no Aether nor knowledge of the spell they aim to use. Put plainly, a dullard could use it.Finally, and of course most importantly is safety. Each scroll is sealed with a wax seal which prevents accidental activation of the scribe's work or complications with stagnant Aether. The wax used is produced in a similar fashion to the aetherically-infused ink and paint and is made to emulate an aetherical padlock. Break the seal, and the spell is ready for use.

court mage

Though Old Sharlayan lacked a royalty to serve, the phrase β€˜Court Mage’ had nonetheless inspired the namesake of the group of Aetherologists and Sorceresses that would form a uniquely dipositioned guild in the city-state. While the Forum managed matters of political grandeur, the Lodge would handle menial, inter-city debaucles and challenges. While not officially recognized as a linking segment of Sharlayan’s council and government, the β€˜guild’ gained some small measure of a reputation for their work, and operated in a fashion similar to Gleaners. Many of the Lodge’s mages continued active study, whilst working from within the guild. And due to the unofficial nature of the Lodge and its services, payment for the mage’s service was typically commission based. The task’s difficulty and length would determine the pay - usually haggled between any given mage and their would-be employer. Unfortunately, the work was not entirely glamorous. For what would one hire a sorcerer or sorceress for? The contractual obligations of a court mage rarely saw crystalline definition. They were not mercenaries. Instead, most would be hired as advisors, or bookkeepers. Helping manage one’s own household and affairs. Though this triviality was just one of countless mundane tasks the mage’s would find themselves tasked with. Little better than a harlot on their back, some mage’s found themselves hired as political arm candy in games of popularity and expressions of wealth - serving as dinner dates and a pretty smile for the senseless rich. S’iha was no exception to this drollery.Having joined the Lodge some few months after first arriving in Sharlayan and beginning her studies - S’iha undertook her work in earnest. She found most of her work in producing protective charms for traveling gleaners and traders who came and left by sea. Though as fate saw it fit, she was also powerless to avoid commissions of a more superficial nature. Countless nights spent tidying houses, sorting tomes in the Noumenon, retrieving lost property, copying texts and acting the painful part of discreet courtesan to professors and politicians alike.S’iha later found her stride performing a majority of her work within the Lodge as an Aetherscribe, the self-coined term she had begun using for her unique method of practice in the arcane arts. Though she now works for Yielding Veil Holdings as an advisor, secretary and aetherscribe - she did so under the contract of a Court Mage. S’iha continues to make regular returns to Old Sharlayan in order to develop advancements in aetherscribing and maintain her studies.
